UKTI and TIGA Help UK Companies

While the UK government isn’t exactly supporting the videogames industry with gusto, the amount of support game developers can get is still increasing, slowly. Richard Wilson seems to be doing a good job so far at TIGA, with the latest news being that UKTI and TIGA are going to support game developers to attend the most important international events in the games calendar. None other than Aleks Krotoski has been appointed to work on this:

You may be aware that I’ve been, what’s the word, ‘detained’ by the UK government to help assist UK Trade & Investment in their aims to support the New Media and Games sectors. I am, as they say, their ‘Sector Champion’, but am still awaiting my cape.

So far so good; this kind of support is useful to smaller companies, and £125K can fly quite a few from them out to these events. Hopefully, we can look forward to the kind of government support that will make even big UK games companies prick their ears up.
